You don't think your way into a new self. You move your way there — and then you turn around and the person who started walking isn't the person who arrived.

A client stands in front of me and says, "I'm just not an athletic person." He says it like he's reporting the weather. For years I heard a belief and reached for an argument — and lost every time. Because that sentence was never a belief. It was a body describing itself.
This episode is about what happens when two roads meet: a theory I built over years on the gym floor — that movement changes how you feel, and feeling changes how you think — and the work of French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, who arrived at the same truth from the opposite end of the earth, studying social class. He called it habitus: history turned into nature. Your past, settled into your body, then mistaken for who you just are.
We get into:
– Why the "think → feel → do" model fails almost everyone
– The real difference between exercise and training (most people have it backwards)
– Why exercise is accumulation and training is leverage — and why you can't skip the order
– Bourdieu's habitus and bodily hexis, explained without the academic fog
– Why information almost never changes anyone
– How optimization and image sell you a body arranged to be seen instead of trusted
– How people actually change: the field, hysteresis, and the cleft habitus
– Five corrections you can apply immediately
If you've ever done everything right and changed nothing, this is why.
