Sketch artist Ian McKesson joins me on the program to talk about his latest work in the 2024 Topps Chrome Star Wars, the appearance with Mama Breaks at the Burbank Card Show and a little about his background and process. He has appeared on many Star Wars sets for Topps in the last couple years. It was a fun conversation and it was fun to get to talk with him!
In the Homestead keeping segment a brief bit on the recent agreement between Toppps and Disney to start developing and producing Marvel, Disney & Pixar trading cards globally. Previously some of this was only outside the U.S. More will be talked about in the shows ahead.

Carrying over from the previous episode with Anthony King from Force Ghost Conversations about conventions such as D23, a dinner conversation with Dan Dudych from CreatureCantina.com and Ro Gazga from the Scarif Scuttlebutt Podcast spilled over into a conversation about recent cons and what makes a good and bad experience.

Anthony King returns to the podcast having recently returned from Anaheim, California and the big D23 Event that took place at the Convention Center there with other events taking place at the nearby Honda Center.
Having not known too much about the workings of such an event, I asked Anthony to come on and help me make the case why I should be planning on attending future D23’s. It’s a nice compliment to his recent D23 Extravaganza podcast episode.

Talked about many times, my Breakfast Pack Co-Host and Card Squadron winger Gregory ‘Gains Bounty’ Cass from @eyeoncanon returns to talk about Fantasy Flight Game’s foray back into the world of TCG’s - STAR WARS UNLIMITED. Greg recently hosted a sealed draft night and returns to the podcast to tell the tales and talk about our thoughts on the game.
Plus we have extra special guests -the first is one half of the long running Podcast, THE WAMPA’s LAIR, Karl ‘Fell the Dragon’ LaClair is here and our panel rounds out with friend of the show and Google Sheet extraordinaire Ben ‘Epic Action’ Brophy aka @zenkenobi
In late 2023 Fantasy Flight games, no stranger to Star Wars card games, released Star Wars Unlimited, a new collectible card game that pits two or more players in combat to see who can outwit and outlast the other. Chosing a Leader and a base, players build decks around different aspects and square off against each other using ground and space units, upgrades, events bounties and smuggling in attempt to destroy their opponent’s base. Each round, players draw cards, add resources to play more powerful cards, counter their opponents moves and ready leaders to turn the tide of the game.
Since this is a collectible card game like Magic, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, you can begin with a starter deck and build decks of your own through booster packs and boxes. Stores can host events with special pack giveaways and major conventions across the U.S. have seen event exclusives which lure collectors in droves.
The first set, Spark of the Rebellion quickly became popular and hard to find soon after its release. The second set, Shadows of the Galaxy has explained the gameplay somewhat, and has helped sustain the game’s popularity. FFG did put out a roadmap earlier and announced their development schedule which puts about 3 sets or seasons out per year.
In November we will return to the prequels with ‘Twilight of the Republic.
In 2025 the three sets announced are Jump to Lightspeed, Legends of the Force, and Secrets of Power.

Just a few highlights from this year’s Fan Expo Chicago, held at the Donald E. Stephen’s Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. A packed house that filled the vendor section, artist alley, autograph zone and the community areas.
Ran into a few folks, including Victor from @fandads, Todd From @bigtlilt & @WSTRmedia
And a Nick & Candace from @Cnfactorychi
Note: since artist alley was packed, I dug into the archives and pulled up a little audio of myself and Nick Poblador talking about the process behind the screenprints he had on display.

Our featured interview is with collector Justin Krohn, who joined me for a break of the new 2024 Topps Chrome Star Wars on an Instagram live stream and then came on the podcast to give his review of the cards we looked at as well as more about his collection and what are his card interests. It’s a full hour of card hobby goodness!
