Well, well, well… what a difference a few weeks makes. Happy Wednesday, Reds and Blues fans! There’s plenty to discuss.

When last we met Chelsea had begun the season with an unconvincing win over Everton. But it was a win nonetheless. That win was followed by a much better team performance against Spurs and a fiery encounter between the managers. Would that be the spark to set their season alight? No, dear fans, it would not. Chelsea’s trip to the north of England could not have gone much worse. A howler from Mendy for the opener, poor marking for 2 more, and new signing Koulibaly sent off for 2 needless yellows. A visit from an even more disorganized Leicester awaits this weekend. It may give them a reprieve, or it may just expose further issues.

Meanwhile, Manchester’s season got off to an even worse start. After a wobbly loss to a deserved Brighton side, the bottom well and truly fell out against Brentford. De Gea’s hands and feet were at fault for the first two goals, and United were down 2 more before the break. Ten Hag made 3 subs at the half and said he could have made 11. Things looked grim as they faced a Liverpool side unbeaten in the league since last December. ETH made 2 big calls by dropping Maguire and Ronaldo to the bench and it appears to have made all the difference. A team reborn? Or just one game between big rivals? A trip to Southampton Saturday morning will give us a glimpse.
