  • What You Still Get to Choose During Divorce

Divorce can feel like one giant problem followed by 745 smaller ones. Where will you live? What happens to your finances? How do you make decisions when you’re angry, grieving, scared, or simply exhausted?

In this solo episode, I talk about what you don’t have to do: call divorce a gift, feel grateful for it, or pretend you’re okay. Nervous system regulation doesn’t mean you stop feeling. It means making enough room for what you feel that the feeling doesn’t automatically make your next decision.

After nearly 30 years working in divorce and family law, I know how essential legal tools can be. I also know there are moments your lawyer, mediator, or therapist cannot be there for: the email you read at 10:30 p.m., the fear that wakes you at 3 a.m., or the minutes before you walk into mediation. That space is why I created The Regulated Divorce.

Inside, you’ll find a private podcast with three short episodes each week, along with an on-demand support library of EFT tapping, somatic practices, self-hypnosis, breathwork, and subliminal audios. It’s for anyone navigating or contemplating divorce, whether you’re litigating, mediating, using a collaborative process, or still figuring out what comes next.

  • Why Co-Parenting Is a Nervous System Issue (with Maria Natapov)

Kids don't just hear our words in the hard moments — they borrow our nervous systems. Mardi sits down with co-parenting and step-parenting expert Maria Natapov to talk about what we're really transmitting to our children, and what it takes to transmit something steadier.

    In this episode:

    • Why children "borrow" their parents' nervous systems — reading the body before the words
    • The difference between performing calm and being regulated, and why kids can tell the difference
    • Maria's framework for grounding co-parenting decisions in values instead of getting lost in the day-to-day details
    • Why the court's 50/50 default doesn't always reflect what's actually workable — and why most families never rise to the level of severe documented conflict, yet still need real structure
    • Reframing "survivor" as one chapter of the story, not the whole identity
    • What BEH2O® and Rapid Resolution Therapy® actually help parents build: a practical, repeatable path forward — not an ideal that only works on paper
    • The particular loneliness of stepparenting, and why releasing the assumption that you're "supposed" to parent a certain way opens up a healthier dynamic
    • Maria's own nervous system regulation practices — including a few she wouldn't do on camera

    A line to sit with:
"You may not control the circumstances or the other people involved, but you can change how you show up and what you create from here."

    About Maria Natapov:
Maria Natapov is a certified BEH2O® coach and Rapid Resolution Therapy® practitioner specializing in co-parenting and step-parenting. She serves as Vice Chair of the Sparrow Collective and holds a trauma-informed parent coaching certification. She works with families to build sustainable, values-based co-parenting systems and to release the reactive patterns that keep people stuck long after the divorce itself is over.

  • You Cannot Make Good Legal Decisions From a Dysregulated Nervous System

Why do smart, capable people agree to a plan in the lawyer's office and do the opposite the moment they get home? Mardi breaks down what's actually happening in the brain and body under threat — and why the fix isn't a better argument, it's regulation.

    n this episode:

    • Why you cannot outthink a dysregulated nervous system, no matter how good your lawyer is
    • The pattern Mardi saw repeatedly in 27 years of practice: clients agreeing in the room, then reversing course at home
    • Why the goal isn't to stop feeling fear, anger, or grief during divorce — that's not realistic, and it's not the work
    • What regulation actually is: not the absence of emotion, but enough access to your body and your tools to feel it and still make a decision you'll stand behind
    • Why this is a learnable skill — and why it's the throughline for the rest of the season

    A line to sit with:
"The lawyer can give you the best advice in the world. And if your nervous system is offline, you will not be able to hear it."
