What’s the secret to a peaceful mind? An empty bowl.
At the end of the day, our brains are cluttered with images, incomplete to-do lists, conversations, and worries. The secret to a peaceful mind is as simple as emptying a bowl.
When the day is done, start a practice of clearing your bowl. Become quiet, allow the chaos to settle to the bottom, and then discard it. Release the need to win every argument, stop replaying uncomfortable conversations, relinquish the pressure to always be perfect…whatever burdens you carry. When these weights lift, embrace the quiet stillness of acceptance, knowing your empty bowl is now ready to receive peace.
Today, try this: Before you respond to someone (either in person or online), pause, and instead of reacting, choose to ACT with intention and compassion. Before you judge, stop before doing something you might regret.
You do not need to live in an ashram in India to find peace. Instead, clear each day’s extra weight every night. Empty the bowl, and you will find the peace that is already there.
