The Department of State's Commission on Unalienable Rights, chaired by Harvard professor Mary Ann Glendon, issued its report on human rights in U.S. foreign policy in July, examining human rights from the perspective of both America's foundational principles and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Professors Robert George of Princeton and William Saunders of Catholic University discuss the report and examine its relevance for a deep and clear understanding of human rights and responsibilities.
