The Results of a Good Question

Listen Later

When your teen goes silent, how in the world do you get him to talk?
One of the secrets to getting your teen to open up is by asking a good question. When you ask your fifteen-year-old an open-ended question, you’re teaching him to think through the situation. You’re empowering him to apply the values you have taught him. You’re even encouraging him to turn around and ask you some good questions!
Next time you’re in a discussion with your kid, ask him what angers him the most about the world. Ask about how he sees the family, or what he thinks needs to change about the home. You can ask a million questions that open lines of communication, and take you deeper in your relationship.
So try it! Ask a good question.
