Kevin McGee is president of the Anchorage chapter of the NAACP. He's also tri-chair for the Poor People’s Campaign in Alaska, which continues the struggle launched by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the final year of his life. When Dr. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, he was fighting for an end to systemic racism, poverty, a militarized economy and ecological devastation. The Poor People's Campaign will launch "40 Days of Moral Action" between Mothers’ Day and Summer Solstice in forty states and the nation’s capital to mark the official resurgence of Dr. King’s campaign. We lost Dr. King fifty years ago, but we did not lose his Dream.
