Episode 28, The Resurrection and the Great Commission

In Matthew 28 (WEB), the darkness of the tomb gives way to the light of resurrection. The women come to the tomb at dawn, the earth shakes, an angel rolls away the stone, and the guards tremble in fear. The angel announces the greatest words in history, "He is not here, for he has risen." Jesus meets the women, commissions his disciples, and promises to be with us always, even to the end of the age.

This chapter is short, but it changes everything. The cross was not the end. The empty tomb is the beginning of new life and a new mission.

1. God reveals resurrection to the faithful who seek in the dark
   The women go to the tomb in sorrow and devotion, and they are the first to hear the news of the risen Christ.

2. The stone is rolled away so we can see life where death once reigned
   The stone was not removed so Jesus could get out, but so that witnesses could see in.

3. Faith begins in worship, not in full understanding
   The women fall at Jesus feet and worship before they understand everything that has happened.

4. Resurrection leads to mission, we rise to go
   The risen King sends his disciples to make disciples of all nations. Resurrection life is meant to be shared.

5. Jesus final promise is his eternal presence
   "I am with you always, even to the end of the age." The Gospel begins with Emmanuel, God with us, and ends with the same truth, now made eternal.

Risen Savior, you have conquered death and silenced the grave.
We stand in awe before your empty tomb, where fear ends and faith begins.
Help us live as people of resurrection, joyful, courageous, and compassionate.
Fill us with your Spirit as we go into the world, making disciples, sharing hope, and carrying light into every dark place.
Remind us that we are never alone.
You are with us always, until the end of the age.
Amen.
