A pyramid temple stands deep in the heart of the jungle in Chiapas, Mexico, hiding a kingly tomb underneath. Here, the remains of Pakal the Great, king of Palenque, lie inside his original coffin with the top lid that is a fully carved story. To secure his family's right to rule Pakal deified himself, inserting his godhood into the Mayan underworld.

With a short background of Pakal's major life events, I am attempting to bring humanity back to the resurrected god imitator. We can see how valuable this art piece is when examining how mythology can affect the direction of culture by those in power.
