I had the pleasure of sitting down with Scottish heraldry specialist and vexillology enthusiast Scott Thomson (@saoradair) to chat about the interplay between the two, and what makes Scottish heraldry specifically so unique. Scott tells me all about the Lion King... er... Lord Lyon and his Court, the official process for registering arms, and some common misconceptions (especially here in the U.S.) about heraldry writ large. And of course, the new flag of Aberdeenshire!
