The United States of America is at a crossroads. As generations change so do the politics of the country. In this podcast, Front Porch Politics is going to give examples of why we are seeing a growth of Socialism in the United States of America.
A Brief History
Let me take you back in time. The baby boomer generation grew out of a generation born from parents who grew up in the Great Depression and saved the world from Socialism and tyranny in World War II. The baby boomer generation saw many changes in our country: de-segration of school, Civil Rights Marches, and the United States landing on the moon. This generation also saw a threat from a foreign enemy that pushed socialist idea across the globe. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, or USSR.
The USSR competed with the United States in military, space, and economics. They used tyranny and murder to gain as much ground as they could and overtake the capitalist county known as America. Soviets would flee the USSR to escape the harsh rule of an Iron fist. It is estimated that the USSR, who devalued human life, murdered over 40 million of their own citizens.
However, this generation is now at retirement age. The generations who follow have a weaker view of tyranny. Why? The baby boomer generation saw the collapse of the Soviet Union. My generation existed in a time where the economic strains of Socialism took a country with natural resources, strong military, and a space program to economic catastrophe. Therefore, we declared we had beaten the Russians and between Rocky and Reagan we dismantled a wall that trapped Soviet Socialist in.
A New Generation
Given the facts from the past, a new generation has emerged. A generation that is more about fighting their parents’ ideas. One would think that this generation would see the devastation that has taken place in Venezuela, but no. They gather in large crowds to cheer on people like Bernie Sanders, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. This logic is irrational, and their support is due to a lack of knowledge of history, mostly coming from the poor teaching and lecturings in community colleges and universities.
Several factors have equated to this generations ideas. The promise of everything being free, and this ridiculous idea that if we do not do something we will destroy the world in 12 years. Neither are factual, there is no such thing as a free lunch, someone has to pay. The evidence against catastrophic climate change is skewed and misinterpreted to show a slant that enrages a generation to beg the government to do something. So how did we get to this generation?
Higher Education Influences
Today’s college classroom is much different. Let me give you an example. At a local community college here in Alabama, the doctrinal push is much different. Instructors now push the Socialist ideas on the students. Brain-washing them to believe that Capitalism is evil, and Socialism is much better. That countries around the world are far better than the United States, and we are stuck in an evil economic system that oppresses people. Want an example, great! In the podcast is audio that is from a Ethics classroom at a community college located in Alabama.
The instructor is pushing his Socialist ideas about Nationalized Healthcare. The Ethics teacher wants free healthcare for anyone. He describes how we control one-third of all the wealth, but degraded companies gaining profit. He then tells the student a drug company CEO’s made $1.6 billion per year, that is a lie. The highest paid CEO makes roughly $26 million a year. He is planting the seed. The seed of Capitalism is bad, and Socialism is good.
