The "River of Light" is the first part of how Lono - a Colorado cowboy - came to be a kahuna priest. It describes his youth, his desire to be a priest, and how he was sent to a Benedictine monastery to begin his priesthood training. At the monastery he discovered information that caused him to leave not only the Catholic Church, but Christianity itself.
Later, after his marriage to Kaikelani Ho'ala he and his new wife moved to a small farm. There, in an attempt to remove a puppy that had drowned in a flooded crawlspace, he suffered an electrocution event during which he "died" and took a spiritual journey up what he describes as a "River of Light". At the end of that journey he had a marvelous encounter with the "source" of that Light and was able to awaken back in his home in the spirit world in which the spiritual answers he had sought all his life were revealed.
A second "death" experience happened later due to damage done to the nerves in his heart in the first electrocution. He again took the same journey up the "River of Light." This time he was less interested in his own River because he was able to see other people who were dying moving up their own "River of Light" back to their source. He noticed that some of these people were so embarrassed by how they lived they couldn't stand to approach the "Light" and its unconditionally loving energy, so they got out of their Rivers and became "lost."
This recording is the first part of Lono's spiritual journey that eventually led him to Hawai'i and becoming ordained by the ancient Mo'o clan as Kahuna Kupua A'o, or Master Teacher of Enlightenment. The second part of the journey is recounted in a follow-on recording called
"The Hawai'ian Magical Mystery Tour".
