The Rivertowns Dispatch has announced its intent to join forces with the Hudson Independent. Before joining the Independent, Barrett was an editor and correspondent at TIME Magazine from 1971 to 2001, including four years as senior White House Correspondent during the Reagan Administration, and is the author of two books. We discussed the news ecosystem of the Rivertowns, how the Trump Whitehouse's relationship with the press compares with what he saw at the Reagan Whitehouse, and what he thinks the most important stories are in our area.

David recently published his fourth book Murder the Truth, which is about the movement to undermine a free press in America. David also works with the Rivertowns Dispatch on its Lab Program, helping train the next generation of journalists. We spoke about how efforts to undermine free press have accelerated in the past year, declining trust in journalism, and why he loves living in the Rivertowns.
