Andrew Cave was driving between Bath and Stroud, and as anyone who has made that journey knows, it’s a pretty straight and uneventful run. But not this night. The salesman, who was 45 at the time and from Taunton in Somerset, saw something odd up ahead, which he described as orange, cloud like object in the sky. As he approached, the news started on his radio with the traditional time check of 11pm.
Mr Cave drove on and under the object; it was then he noticed something. His car clock read 8pm. Checking his watch that also now read 8pm. Even his digital pen, which he had checked often that day and found no fault with, read 9pm. But the newsreader had said 11pm just seconds earlier. Then the radio started with the 8pm programming, as if repeating the shows from a couple of hours before. Even on emerging from the mist, the sky seemed lighter than it should be at 11pm. Most mysteriously, his odometer had started running backwards, something that was technically impossible, and the number of miles on his clock were substantially reduced.
Other than the time anomalies, everything seemed normal, and Mr Cave put his foot down and noted the cloud – or whatever it was – disappear into the distance. He had, in effect, travelled back in time 3 hours. His wasn’t the only tale of odd events on that road that night, and UFO investigators and researchers found numerous other travellers and locals had similar experiences. No explanation for the events could be found, and could be dismissed, were it not for the people reporting the phenomena having no common link between each other.
