Well this is it. Over 10 years after being told a rebuild was an unnecessary waste of time and the fanbase shouldn't have to wait for success, we've witnessed two playoff appearances, the implosion and or departure of our core players, and what remains sits firmly at the bottom of the NHL standings. And now for the debate; do we cry and complain (rightfully) about the rebuild that should have been? The team we so naively threw our time, effort, stress, optimism, energy and money into? The team that was supposed to be the light after a decade long tunnel? The team that was supposed to be some fans first experience with a Cup contending Canucks team? The team that has made some of the oldest, most loyal fans realize they may not live to see another Cup run?
Or do we allow ourselves to be excited about the rebuild that has finally been conceded to? A rebuild that has finally been promised by those who will be in charge of rebuilding it. A rebuild where a new young core is already beginning to form. A rebuild where we as an organization, a fan base, a team are at rock bottom, but may finally have the blueprint to not only improve in the short term, but build properly what this city has been deprived of, dreaming of, deserved for far too long. A rebuild. Full stop.
And thats all on this week's episode of The Vancouver Boys Podcast.
