For years, the Burmese government has continued its practice of brutality and expulsion of its Muslim minority population known as the Rohingya. Members of the long-persecuted group are fleeing into neighboring Bangladesh at record numbers – about 15,000 a day – and around 400,000 are stuck in conflict zones where so-called “clearance operations” are taking place. Today, we’ll hear about the history of the Rohingya, why they are continually persecuted, and what the global community can do to address this crisis with AZEEM IBRAHIM, Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Policy and author of The Rohingyas: Inside Myanmar’s Hidden Genocide, and with JAMILA HANAN, human rights activist and director of the crowdsourced #WeAreAllRohingyaNow campaign.  Then, we’ll talk about what U.S. policy has been in dealing with this humanitarian crisis and what options are on the table when we speak with DEREK MITCHELL, former Ambassador to Burma under President Obama and Senior Advisor to the Asia Center at the United States Institute of Peace.
