Episode 2: The Role of Human Government
Is there any demarcation line between the church and the government? Is the idea of separation of church and state even biblical? In the Bible, God recognizes himself as the ruler over His people, the Israelites. But the nation of Israel didn’t want God for a king, and they wanted to be “like the other nations.” Thus, God gave them over to their demand. As a church, we subscribe to the idea of separation of church and state, which means that the government will not control the church, and the church must not control the government. However, the PMCC (4th Watch) believes that God cannot be separated from government, which means that the church must recognize the role of government while the latter must recognize the role of God in human governance.
