There is an interesting debate about midwifery: is it the oldest profession? Regardless of the advent of the profession, midwives have played a role in maternal health for a very long time.
In this episode, we discuss midwifery and its role in improving the current state of maternal health with one of my mentors : Mrs. Ebony Marcelle, CNM, MS.
Mrs Marcelle is the director of Midwifery at the Family Health and Birth Center (FHBC; Community of Hope). FHBC is the only federally funded free-standing birth center in Washington DC. In addition, Ebony is a member of the Black Maternal Caucus. She has dedicated her career to improving black maternal health.
