A turning point is a specific moment, decision, relationship, or experience that redirects the future of your life. A turning point can be positive or negative, and either can be life-altering. Do not imagine them all to be bad, because they can often be very positive. Your life today is what it is because of the turning points in your life.
Moments can happen, and all of a sudden what happens next is impacted by it.Decisions we make, those that are good and a few that are bad, will impact the future, positively or negatively.
Welcome today and thank you for joining us on this 104th podcast episode. This past week in my life was very busy, as I had the great privilege of doing a major breakout for the TIME TO LEAD Conference at Cross Church. Over 120 people joined the breakout, and they came from 127 churches. That 80 Minute experience was fantastic. The response has been strong and encouraging.
This led into the CALLED TO LEAD main session, which had over 900 people attending from 127 different churches. Pastors Jordan Easily of Cleveland, Tennessee; Ed Newton of San Antonio, Texas; and Nick Floyd from Northwest Arkansas did a wonderful job encouraging and equipping pastors, ministers, and lay leaders from these 127 churches across America. PLAN NOW to join us in 2027 for the Sunday evening session on September 12; the Conference continues Monday Morning and afternoon, concluding at 4:00 PM that day.
Today, want to slow down long enough and share with you a few GRATITUDE REFLECTIONS ON LIFE AND MINISTRY. The Bible says in Psalms 77:11-12, “I will remember the Lord’s works; yes, I will remember your ancient wonders. I will reflect on all you have done and meditate on your actions.” I want to intentionally look back, reflect on and recognize the goodness of God, be thankful, and stand with confidence in the future.
What does following Jesus actually look like—not just on Sunday, but in everyday life? Jesus never called us simply to believe in Him; He called us to follow Him, and that decision should shape every part of our lives. Today I want to give you four essentials of following Jesus—and then ask one very personal question: Do these four things describe my life?
Questions you may be asking: Will I stay strong in the storm? Will I keep the faith as I walk through the storm?
Sometimes we may not know how we would respond until that moment occurs. Yet we know God is with us through the storms of life.
Please get this: NOTHING CAN CREATE GREATER FAITH IN YOUR LIFE THAN WALKING THROUGH A STORM. In fact, God will elevate your faith into an entirely new dimension.
Happy 250th Anniversary to our great United States of America. As we celebrate today and throughout this year in America, we are marking 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
This is why I want to share our 100th podcast episode with you on the 250th Anniversary of America. My topic on our 100th podcast episode is the following:
WHAT AMERICA NEEDS MOST FROM YOU AND THE CHURCH. I am very excited to share about this subject today because this podcast calls each of us to be all that God wants us to be as followers of Christ and as Americans.
Less than one week ago, I preached about this subject, and I wanted to share it with you now. Listen, consider what is said, and let all of us act upon it in the right way. Here we go. Podcast 100: WHAT AMERICA NEEDS MOST FROM YOU AND THE CHURCH.
We have had a strong and encouraging response to last week’s podcast, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE. If you missed it, please listen to it soon and share it with others. People really do want to have a more positive attitude. Let’s share it with many people so each of us can have a chance to experience a positive change in attitude.
How is your week going? Last week, I spent all of Tuesday and much of Tuesday night in Fort Smith, Arkansas, assisting the Grand Avenue Baptist Church. It was a very productive day, and we are seeing some good things happen. As some of you know, I am assisting this church by preaching on most Sundays when not scheduled elsewhere, and I am also giving time to help provide leadership for their church each week. So, I spend most Tuesdays in Fort Smith from morning through the early evening meetings. Please pray for us. Pray for them to get a pastor soon.
In life, it is quite easy to develop a poor attitude. Spending your life online will give you a poor attitude. Listening to nothing but news programs will strain your attitude. Developing a skeptical mindset, a critical spirit, and a cynical, sarcastic tone will sink your attitude into the abyss of a bad attitude. This will lead you to carry the weight of the world on your back and to develop the habit of blaming others for everything in life. Then all of a sudden, you adopt a victim mentality: Everyone is beating you up. God has a better way.
Today, I am going to really do a 180 on you, because I am going to talk to you today about some 7 TAKEAWAYS FROM THE 2026 SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION. While events began on Saturday, both Sunday and Monday were full as well. All was pointing to last Tuesday and Wednesday in Orlando, Florida. These two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, are traditionally reserved for the Southern Baptist Convention's Annual Meeting.
The summer season is completely different from the other seasons of the year. At times, it seems summer slows life down, so you can breathe, take some personal time, and renew yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. At the same time, summer can be very busy, filled with extra activities, days of travel, and perhaps even many different experiences. Parents with kids at home still have to navigate personal schedules, plus camps, perhaps Vacation Bible School, and other special opportunities children are afforded today.
