  • Made to Be Men: What is Biblical Manhood?

What does it actually mean to be a man according to Scripture?

In the first episode of our Biblical Manhood series, we go back to creation to ask what God designed men to be. Biblical masculinity isn’t defined by trucks, guns, income, physical strength, emotional stoicism, or how loudly a man can assert his authority. Scripture presents something deeper: men who faithfully carry God-given responsibility with courage, self-control, sacrifice, and love.

We also examine the relationship between men and women, the biblical case for complementarianism, and why equal worth does not require identical roles. From Adam and Eve to Paul’s teaching on marriage and church leadership, we look at the biblical and historical evidence for meaningful distinctions between men and women—while rejecting the idea that headship gives men greater value or permission to dominate. Ultimately, we look to Jesus, who perfectly demonstrates strength without cruelty, authority without selfishness, tenderness without weakness, and leadership expressed through sacrifice.

Biblical manhood is courageous responsibility exercised in sacrificial love.

  • Eschatology: What is it?

What does the Bible actually teach about the end times—and how do we make sense of all the different views Christians hold?

In Episode 9 of The Rooted Way, we tackle eschatology and the book of Revelation without turning it into a codebook for today’s headlines. We break down the major views on the rapture, the millennium, and how Revelation should be interpreted, including pre-tribulation, post-tribulation, pre-wrath, premillennialism, amillennialism, postmillennialism, futurism, preterism, historicism, and idealism.

We also look at some of Revelation’s most debated subjects—including the Antichrist, 666, the mark of the beast, Babylon, Armageddon, and the 144,000—while keeping the focus where Revelation keeps it: on Jesus Christ, the Lamb who reigns, the King who is coming, the defeat of evil, the resurrection, final judgment, and the promise that God will dwell with His people forever.

Whatever position you hold on the timeline, the message of Revelation is clear: Christ wins, evil is defeated, the saints are called to endure faithfully, and God makes all things new.

  • Built to Move: Inside the Tabernacle

What did it actually take to build, furnish, dismantle, carry, and rebuild the Tabernacle in the wilderness?

In Episode 8 of The Rooted Way, we go beyond what the Tabernacle meant and look at how it actually worked. We walk through its dimensions, curtains, furniture, priestly garments, metals, craftsmen, Levite responsibilities, wagons, coverings, and the remarkable logistics of moving a portable sanctuary through the wilderness.

Along the way, we separate what Scripture explicitly says from reasonable reconstruction and later tradition—and yes, we revisit the legendary Priest Retrieval Device, or “PRD.” Gold bells? Biblical. Rope tied to the High Priest so his body could be dragged out if he died? Not biblical. The PRD, tragically, did not make the cut.

Ultimately, the episode points back to the larger reality behind all the frames, sockets, curtains, furniture, coverings, and carrying poles: God intended to dwell among His people.

  • The Tabernacle: God Dwelling with His People

How can a perfectly holy God dwell in the middle of a sinful people without abandoning them—or consuming them?

In Episode 7 of The Rooted Way, we explore the Tabernacle, the priesthood, sacrifice, and the Day of Atonement to see how God made a way to dwell among His people while maintaining His holiness.

We also look at some of the fascinating details surrounding Israel’s worship, separate biblical teaching from later Jewish tradition, and trace how the entire system ultimately points beyond itself to Christ—the perfect High Priest and final sacrifice who opens the way into God’s presence.

  • Christian Jargon and Tenets of Faith

What do Christians actually mean when we use words and phrases like "guard your heart," "spiritual warfare," "justification," "sanctification," or Sola Scripture?

In this episode of The Rooted Way, we slow down and define some of the language Christians often use without thinking about it.

We look at everyday church jargon, foundational doctrines, and some of the major theological debates believers encounter—asking not just what these words mean, but where the ideas come from in Scripture and why they matter.

Our goal isn’t to get rid of meaningful theological language. It’s to make sure we actually understand what we’re saying and can explain it clearly to someone who may not already speak “Christianese.”

Want to dig deeper? We put together a free companion with the definitions, theological terms, and Scripture references discussed in this episode.

  • More Than Asking God for Things

    What is prayer really for?

In this episode of The Rooted Way, we talk about prayer as more than simply asking God for things. We explore prayer as ongoing communion with God—rooted in trust, dependence, worship, confession, thanksgiving, and concern for others.

We look at the Lord’s Prayer, the posture of the heart in prayer, and why prayer is not about informing God of something He does not already know, but learning to trust Him and align our hearts with His will.

We also discuss the ACTS prayer model — Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication—as a simple framework for building a healthier and more balanced prayer life, along with the importance of interceding for others and praying in a way that ultimately brings glory to God.

Prayer is not just something Christians do. It is part of what it means to walk with God.

  • Biblical Forgiveness: Thoughts from the Panel

What happens when faithful Christians agree that forgiveness is commanded—but disagree about when it actually takes place?

In this follow-up episode of The Rooted Way, we sit down with Pastor Greg Neely and Neill Dowell to revisit the question of biblical forgiveness from several different perspectives.

Building on our previous episode, we work through passages like Mark 11:25, Luke 17:3–4, Matthew 6, Ephesians 4, Colossians 3, Acts 7, and Matthew 18 as we discuss whether forgiveness is extended before repentance or only after it, and how that question relates to reconciliation, accountability, consequences, and restored trust.

This isn’t a debate over whether Christians should forgive. The disagreement is over what forgiveness actually is, what repentance changes, and how the different biblical passages fit together.

The conversation also explores the danger of reducing forgiveness to “forgive and forget,” especially in serious situations where wisdom, boundaries, discipline, or consequences may still be necessary.

Our goal is not simply to pick a side, but to let Scripture define the categories and help us think more carefully about what it means to forgive as followers of Christ.

  • Forgiveness: Does Repentance Come First?

What does biblical forgiveness actually require—and where does repentance fit?

In this episode of The Rooted Way, we lay the groundwork for a deeper conversation about forgiveness by examining what Scripture means when it commands Christians to forgive.

We work through passages such as Mark 11:25, Luke 17:3–4, Matthew 6, Ephesians 4, Colossians 3, and Matthew 18 as we explore the relationship between forgiveness, repentance, reconciliation, accountability, and restored trust.

We also address some common misconceptions—such as the idea that forgiveness means forgetting what happened, removing consequences, immediately restoring trust, or pretending an offense was never serious.

This episode is intended to establish the biblical categories and key passages that set the stage for our upcoming panel discussion on the question: Does repentance come before forgiveness?

  • What Does it Mean to Actually Follow Jesus?

What does it really mean to follow Jesus?

In this episode of The Rooted Way, we move beyond Christian labels, church attendance, and cultural Christianity to examine Christ’s actual call to discipleship. We talk about repentance, faith, obedience, self-denial, taking up our cross, and what it means for our lives to be genuinely shaped by Jesus.

Following Christ is not about earning salvation through good works, but neither is it simply agreeing with a set of beliefs. Saving faith produces a life that increasingly follows, trusts, and obeys the One we call Lord.

We look at passages including Luke 9:23–26, Mark 1:14–20, John 8:31–32, John 14:15, Ephesians 2:8–10, and James 1:22–25 as we ask what biblical discipleship really looks like.

  • Brotherhood: Why We Cannot Follow Christ Alone

What does Christian brotherhood actually look like?

In the first episode of The Rooted Way, we explore what it means to belong to a local church community and to build genuine Christian friendships that go beyond surface-level conversation.

We talk about brotherhood, accountability, encouragement, discipleship, bearing one another’s burdens, and why the Christian life was never meant to be lived in isolation. We also share some of our own backgrounds so you can get to know Kendall, Landon, and Josh a little better and understand the heart behind the podcast.

Christian community is more than simply attending church together. It means learning to walk alongside one another in faith, truth, obedience, and grace.
