Fresh royal revelations, Meghan Markle backlash, and a surprise Beckham reunion — this week’s royal headlines are packed with drama and intrigue.
Newly released government files reveal Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly “very keen” for her son, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, to take on a prominent role as a UK trade envoy back in 2000.
The documents, released following a request from Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey, show the late Queen strongly supported Andrew representing British interests abroad. Mountbatten-Windsor would later serve as the UK’s special representative for international trade and investment from 2001 until 2011.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle continued speaking out about children’s online safety after facing criticism over a photo of Princess Lilibet shared before the duchess travelled to Geneva.
Elsewhere, King Charles and Queen Camilla enjoyed a special reunion with Sir David Beckham at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London. The royal meet-up comes just weeks after Beckham visited the King at Highgrove House to discuss plans for The King’s Foundation Curious Garden featured at this year’s show.
Jo Elvin, Katie Nicholl and Grant Harrold are joined by special guests Tom Sykes of The Royalist, Vogue writer Plum Sykes, and royal author Andrew Lownie to break down all the latest royal news, controversies and behind-the-scenes insight.
