Upon the completion of creation we have God's own assessment, "it was very good" (Genesis 1:31). God blessed the 7th day and made it holy. Adam and Eve lived under the blessing of the completed work of God. This blessed state was not merely one day a week, but every day. Every day was filled with the joy of unbroken fellowship with each other and with God.

That blessed rest was lost in The Fall. As they chose to remove themselves from the covering of God's completed work, the freedom gained led to the slavery of sin and death. Through Adam's sin all of humanity was thrust out from under the completed, perfect work of God. The good news is that God would bring redemption through the sacrifice of Christ. Jesus proclaimed from the cross, It is finished! Now all may enter God’s finished work and find rest in Christ.
