The Santa Barbara City Council has voted to form a committee to study the feasibility of rent stabilization to address rising rents and the displacement of renters. KCSB’s Robert Stark speaks with housing policy advocate, Frank Rodriguez, with CAUSE – Central Coast Alliance United for a Sustainable Economy – about renters being displaced due to rent hikes in Santa Barbara and the need for rent control. On the other side of the debate, he's joined by UC Santa Barbara Economics Professor Peter Rupert, who explains why he does not think rent control is a good solution.
