Luke 10:38-11:13
With this text we roll into a new followership theme in Luke’s Gospel—The Growth Of The Savior’s Kingdom. As we will see in a couple of weeks, the closing parables of this particular travel section deal with the hidden yet unstoppable growth of Jesus’ Kingdom. But this section also deals with what it means to follow Jesus as our Master. Specifically in this text Jesus lays down a followership truth—the necessary good portion for any disciple is to listen to Jesus’ teaching and to pray. When we stitch together the opening and closing of this section we see that the Savior’s Kingdom grows as His disciples listen to His word and pray to the Father.
