Luke 4:14-44
The Savior’s resume is done. Jesus has been proven to be the credentialed and qualified Christ. Now, Luke directs us to the Savior’s Manifesto. A manifesto is a public declaration of purpose. And according to Luke, from inside a Nazareth synagogue Jesus delivers His manifesto. Reading from Isaiah 61, Jesus publicly declares that He is the Spirit-anointed Servant long-promised by the prophet Isaiah. And since this is who He is, it is clear according to Isaiah what He must do—He must preach the good news of God’s kingdom to poor sinners.
