Pushing Dirt

The Scandifornian Agent with Dag Elias

Listen Later

“My favorite thing to do is open houses because I'm not afraid to talk to someone I don’t know,” says Dag Elias, a global real estate advisor. Originally a touring musician from Sweden, Dag moved to Los Angeles in his early twenties, where he started his real estate career. Now, Dag uses his intuitive nature to guide his clients through the intimidating real estate process to find the right homes for them.

As someone who started selling cars at fifteen, Dag already had the confidence and skillset to make the shift to real estate. Unafraid of talking to new people, Dag can quickly establish what his clients are looking for and put them on the path towards homeownership. While many realtors burn themselves out by taking on too many clients or trying to accommodate everyone, Dag understands that the best way to succeed in this industry is by being yourself.

Tune into this week’s episode of Pushing Dirt for an enlightening discussion on Dag’s real estate wisdom. Learn more about Dag’s real estate style, housing trends and the economy, and the importance of buying real estate today.

Quotes

• “My favorite thing to do is open houses because I'm not afraid to talk to someone I don’t know. And I'm also not afraid to talk to someone who doesn't like me or care for me or my style.” (07:16-07:31)

• “If something is purely an investment, you got to put a different hat on. If something is, I will live here and have a good time; I don't care. Yes, it might, you know, go up next year, and then down and up, then it doesn't matter.” (21:57-22:06)

• “Everybody's going to feel pushed in this market because it's very frustrating being a buyer. I always tell them in the beginning, everything happens in five minutes, and they go, okay. But then, when they realize that everything has to happen in five minutes, that's when they feel pushed. So that's where it's important for them to trust a realtor to feel like they're in a strong team.” (26:06-26:27)

• “I think what's happening in real estate right now is that the bottom part of real estate is moving up to the medium part. For example, you could buy a house for 600,000. Now, that house is 800,000, but the middle part is staying the same.” (47:17-47:33)

• “There's really no need to outsmart yourself. As far as buying real estate, you have to do it. And the reason you have to do it is because in 10 years, real estate is going to double in value.” (50:04-50:17)

• “I think as far as business, to become successful in business, to understand how money works and moves, but it's also about having the right attitude and understanding your shortcomings.” (59:47-1:00:00)
