🎙️ Welcome back to the award-winning The Scarf Bergara Wore – the original Stockport County fan podcast! 🔵⚪️

Waggie is back in the hot seat again, joined by fan-favourite regulars Wrighty and Ryan, to talk all things County.

We start with the 2–1 victory against Wimbledon, after going 1–0 down yet again just after the break. We discuss how much more resilient we look this season and why we seem to need to go behind before really stepping up a gear! We also look at which of the new arrivals have impressed us most so far and the difference some of the more established players are making this season.

Next up, it's the FA Cup First Round Proper and a trip to Cray Wanderers. Will the 3G pitch be a leveller, a hindrance or perhaps even an advantage for the way we want to play football? We discuss how our expectations have changed over the years, from being the giant killers to now being the ones everyone wants to knock out! What sort of team do we expect to see? We also throw out the big question: would you rather have a decent cup run, reaching the fourth or fifth round and potentially taking a few Championship or Premier League scalps, while finishing in the play-offs… or go out in the first round and secure automatic promotion? Two very different ends of the spectrum! We also take a trip down memory lane and look back at some of our own FA Cup highlights, picking out the games that stand out from our County supporting days stretching back to the 90s. Yes, we're all old enough to remember them!

For everything we get right at County, there are always a few little things that don't quite hit the mark. This time, it's the PA system in the Cheadle End. It was particularly noticeable during Saturday's Remembrance fixture, with the system cutting in and out and some of the communication with supporters being missed. Hopefully, it's something that can be sorted sooner rather than later.

We have a quick mention of Monday's NWFA Awards, attended by Russ and Dan. Although we didn't retain our award (it's a fix!), there was plenty of success for County, with Ben Hinchliffe and Jimmy McNulty picking up awards (albeit for Jimmy's time at Rochdale), while County in the Community received a highly commended. We may not have taken home the trophy, but we were definitely the people's champions!

Ben also celebrated his testimonial dinner last Friday (30th October), and what a great evening it was! Jimmy McNulty, René Meulensteen and the man himself all took to the stage, alongside a brilliant charity auction. You won't believe how much was raised!

Finally, we continue with our new quiz, 13 Men and a Dog (still a working title, so suggestions are very welcome!). This is TSBW's take on a County-themed Mastermind. Waggie takes on the role of Maurice McSquirter and puts Ryan's County general knowledge to the test against the clock for 2 minutes and 3 seconds (if you know, you know!). Wrighty takes on timekeeping duties and keeps the scores. Can Ryan make it into the Gold position, or will he have to settle for bronze?

🔵 FROM FRUSTRATION TO CELEBRATION – COUNTY FIGHT BACK TO BEAT THE REAL DONS!

⚪️💙 Three points at Edgeley Park, but County certainly didn't make life easy for themselves! After three consecutive away games, County returned to SK3 to face AFC Wimbledon – THE REAL DONS – and came away with a hard-fought 2–1 victory. But once again, the story started with County failing to make the most of their chances. Opportunities came and went, and when Wimbledon struck early in the second half to take the lead, it looked like we might be left regretting those missed chances. Then came a tactical tweak from Jim McNulty. With Ennis and Diamond switching positions, County suddenly started to look a much bigger attacking threat – and the game began to turn in our favour! Was that the key moment that changed everything? Jimmy, Dan, Rediy and Rolo are back on Sunday night to dissect another eventful afternoon at Edgeley Park.

⚽ WHY AREN'T WE TAKING OUR CHANCES? County are creating opportunities, but are we making games harder than they need to be? How much of a concern is our finishing? Waggie is in the hot seat this week, joined by Jimmy from the Reaction Pod, with fan debutant Martin making an appearance — although we didn’t actually know he was making his debut until the end!

We provided updates throughout the pod of County Academy’s FA Youth Cup tie against Rotherham (we won 4-1 sorry for the spoiler).

We turn our attention to the first team and the defeat at Oxford. How did we think the game went? After that early scare inside the first 20 seconds, did County adapt well, and where were we lacking? We discuss the bold half-time decision to take Norwood and Osbourne off for Fiorini and Ennis, whether the changes improved us in the second half and if we did enough to deserve a point. ? Are we concerned about the lack of goals in last few games and shots on target?

We have a quick look at the season so far. Are we happy with our current league position and performances? Have our expectations changed as the season has progressed, and can we sustain this run? Or is it time to bolster the squad and add a bit more depth for the challenges ahead?

We also briefly touch on the 1-1 draw away at Notts County, although we won’t go into too much detail as the Reaction Pod has already covered it in depth. Did we feel that was another two points dropped, or were we looking at it as another Blackpool-type game? One thing we can’t ignore is just how impressive County’s away stats in that game were!

Cray Wanderers have sold out their tickets in record time, and County have been allocated 450 tickets, with the first points-based tier of 1,200-plus able to buy from Thursday at 10am. Is anyone fancying the trip, or are you happy to stay at home and watch Alex Scott and, obviously, Ashley Williams on the telly?

We discuss Camps’ loan move to Carlisle and what it means for his future at County. Is this a good move for him? Is it a step towards moving him on in January, or is the aim simply to get some minutes under his belt and build up his fitness for the second half of the season? And does he still have a role to play at County?

Finally, we continue with our new quiz, 13 Men and a Dog (working title — suggestions are welcome!). This is TSBW’s take on a County-themed Mastermind. ⚪️💙 SIDIBEH IS BACK AMONGST THE GOALS – BUT HOW MUCH HAVE WE MISSED HIM?

County returned to Meadow Lane for the first time since that unforgettable 5–2 victory in April 2024 that saw us crowned League Two champions – but this time we had to settle for a share of the spoils.

A 1–1 draw against Notts County, with Sidibeh coming off the bench to grab the equaliser and score his first goal since Wembley!

After a slow and carefully managed return from injury, it's a welcome moment for a player County fans have been desperate to see back firing.

But just how important is a fully fit Sidibeh to this Stockport County side?

Steve, Andy, Toby and Rob are back on Sunday night to pick through everything that happened at Meadow Lane and discuss the bigger picture.

Was it a good point away from home or two points dropped?

Did County do enough to deserve the win?

Who impressed?

And what did we learn from the performance?

4 wins in a row, while actually winning 5 from 6 in all competitions and only conceding 1 goal in that time, are we now in our rhythm and how long will it last.

We delve into the comfortable 2-0 win over Doncaster on Tuesday night, how we controlled the game and looked like the home side for large spells. Did we have gears to go through? We discuss the 2 main controversial incidents around Jobe's apparent stamp on McCann's lad and also Donny's Broadbent's tackle with intent on Glover who jumped the tackle (fortunately) should either or both of been red cards?

We look forward to the next 2 tough away fixtures at Notts and Oxford, will the run continue, how many points do we think we can take from them and where do we think we are at this stage of the season.
