The Scroll and the Lamb

Listen Later

Last week, we began a two-chapter section between “The Church Age” and what most call “The Tribulation Period.” Our attention is drawn to heaven as John tries to describe the things that he saw in the Throne Room of God.

Our points were:

  1. Who is on the Throne?
  2. Who is Around the Throne?
  3. What is Happening at the Throne?
  4. Today, our attention will be transferred from the One Who sits on the throne (God the Father) to the One Who is able to take the scroll from the Father’s hand. As we look at these two chapters, it is paramount that we understand Who the Father and the Son are. They are God! The Father and the Son being God is what predicates the worship that we see in chapters 4 and 5.

Remember: Major on the Majors and Minor on the Minors.

Our message is titled: “Before the Throne in Heaven.”

    Our points will be:

    1. Who Couldn’t Open the Scroll?
    2. Who Could Open the Scroll?
    3. What is the Response?

    4. Main Scripture: Revelation 5:1-14

      Supporting Texts: Zechariah 5:1-3, Luke 19:41, Luke 22:62, Revelation 21:4, Genesis 49:9, Hebrews 7:14a, Isaiah 11:1, John 1:29, Daniel 7:13-14, Psalm 95:6, John 14:6, 1 Peter 2:9, Daniel 7:10, Psalm 69:34

Diving Deeper. After listening to today's message, consider asking yourself the following questions:

      • How would you feel if you witnessed that no one could be found to open the scroll?
      • Do you constantly view Jesus as the only One Who is worthy of our worship? Explain.
      • Why was Jesus able to open the seals and the scroll? Explain the importance of your answer.
      • What is the response in heaven when Jesus takes the scroll from God the Father’s hand?
      • Who worshipped Jesus? Why is this important?
      • ...more
