Publisher's Summary:
Leary and Mundy return in the RCN series.
#10 in the nationally best-selling Republic of Cinnabar Navy space adventure series.
Cinnabar's chief spymaster is a mother also - and her son is determined to search for treasure in the midst of a civil war. Who better to hold the boy's hand - and to take the blows directed at him - than Captain Daniel Leary, the Republic of Cinnabar Navy's troubleshooter, and his friend the cyberspy Adele Mundy?
The only thing certain in the struggle for control of the mining planet Corcyra is that the rival parties are more dangerous to their own allies than to their opponents. Daniel and Adele face kidnappers, hijackers, pirates and a death squad - even before they can get to their real business of ending the war on Corcyra. Only with planetary peace can the boy they're escorting get on with his mission.
The boy thinks the treasure he's looking for is a thousand years old. Daniel and Adele know that it's probably a dream - but if the treasure is real, it just might be tens of thousands of years older than anyone imagines, and incalculably more valuable!

Time to move on with a new series
Any additional comments?
Judging from the other reviews, I am in the minority on this book. I think it's time for the author to either reinvigorate this series or move on. Most of the book is uninteresting and unnecessary dialogue. I finally started listening to most of it in the background while doing something else -- and didn't miss a thing. Much of the commentary was unnecessary, redundant or over the top. It would be interesting to know how many times we were told that Adelle is a deadly shot with a pistol and that Tovera is a deadly psychopath. Enough already. We get it! We are repeatedly told what a great Navigator and Captain Daniel is, how great the crew is, how much the crew respects Daniel, how faithful they are to Adelle. On and On with fawning hyperbole. Many of the details are unnecessary to the plot or setting. We don't need to know what the frequency of the radio signals are. There were several times the action was intersting for a few minutes, but he managed to make the battles and negotiating mildly interesting but never exciting. This is the last of the series I will read or listen to.
I love this series.
Mr. Drake again expertly delivers a rousing story of wooden ships and iron men set in the distant future.
I can't recommend this series and this installment more highly.
Up Cinnabar! RCN FOREVER!!!
Needless Changes
Would you be willing to try another one of Victor Bevines performances?
Mr. Bevine is one of my favorite voice actors.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No.
Any additional comments?
The changes to the voicing were a serious mistake and detracted heavily from my enjoyment of this installment.
The voicing of Hog was absolutely horrific. I loved Hog from the first book and now I cringe every time he comes on.
The change to Adelle was not as egregious but also not needed. For the record I love Victor Bevine's work and have listed to over a dozen of his voiced books.
But if it ain't broke don't fix it. And please change it back for the new book. Please?
love the book and series but the reader.....
I love this series. The reader comes close to killing it, unfortunately.
