As we begin our final series in the book of Numbers called, “Preparation,” we see that the children of Israel are now on the edge of the Promised Land. Between the end of Numbers and the entire book of Deuteronomy, the children of Israel are receiving their final instructions before they can take the land that God had promised them. But first, it was important to know who was in their company. So they take the second census of the book of Numbers.
