The Second Death

“Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power…” — Revelation 20:6.

Picture the moment when the heavens open and Jesus returns in power and glory. Graves burst open, and those who died in Christ rise filled with life — immortal, never again to feel pain, fear, or separation. That’s the privilege of those who take part in the first resurrection — the resurrection of hope, of reward, of eternal life with God.

But there’s another scene… much sadder. After a thousand years, the wicked rise too — but not to life. They rise to face judgment, to stand before the truth they once ignored. They look toward the throne and see what could have been… and realize it’s too late. Then comes the second death — total destruction, eternal separation. Not endless torture, but the final silence of those who rejected the Source of Life.

What does that mean for you and me? It means that now — while there’s still time — is the moment to choose which resurrection we’ll belong to. Many live thinking there will always be “tomorrow” to change, to surrender, to let go of sin. But what if tomorrow never comes?

The second death doesn’t have to be your destiny. Jesus died the first death so you would never have to face the second. He offers you life today — not just eternal life someday, but a life of purpose, peace, and assurance right now.

Today, God is calling you to be among the “blessed and holy.” Don’t wait any longer. Let go of what still holds you back. Confess what needs to be left behind. Accept the call of Jesus.

Because when He returns, there will only be two groups — those who live forever… and those who are gone forever.

So tell me — which resurrection will you be in?
