Members Reviews:
Like Enid Blyton's boarding school books
However, paragraphs are all over the place and words have gotten misspelled or sentences mixed up. But you can still get the gist of things.
Certainly this little world of St Cares is another world with core values that differ from those of today's schools. There are no groups of mean girls, rather the girls who run things are nice girls with strong values of the school's. There are no male teachers or principals either. The location is safe and lovely. And the girls not only learn academic subjects but also sewing and they knit during their down times!
The plots entail a girl learning to adjust to life away from their family and learning to overcome a certain negative trait that annoys the other girls like laziness or surliness, for example. I suppose you'd say that they adjust to their surroundings and learn to fit in.
The girls are described as ordinary schoolgirls (of that period) pigtails and freckled faces. Not as one girl who obsessed about her appearance and was more like a model. Her vanity didn't fit in. Now it would be different now.
Thank you so much
I always like books written by Enid Blyton and Pamela Cox too. I read books such as Secret Seven, Famous Five, Malory Towers and St. Clares. This is one of the best. Thank you so much for the books
Errors and typos
I love Enid Blytons and grew up reading this series, so this review is not a commentary on the book itself. It's more a review of the quality of the e-book. There were typos through the series, and not small ones. Sentences and even entire paragraphs were repeated at random intervals, while some ended abruptly. Words were substituted erroneously. I'm annoyed as I bought the entire series and found errors in every single book.
Forever awesome
Loved it as a child. Love it as an adult. Very excited to pass on the mysteries and the pranks to my kids.
The Book is Fine But the Kindlelizing the WORST EVER
None of the St. Claire's books have been digitized well, but this is the worst so far. Whole pages duplicated, sentences not finished, extraneous characters suddenly appearing and so many misspellings.... No child should be expected to puzzle it out. It is a shame, too, because this is a perfect series for the 10+ age group.
