The timing of the publication of this wonderful book by one of our favorite authors hit at the perfect time. Mark had preached for a congregation we loved in Oregon for 28 years, but sensed it would be just as good for them to hear a new voice, as it would be for us to liquidate most of our possessions, live out of our Airstream van and find more souls to love and inspire. At the time of this recording, we had been living on the road for about six months and LOVE climbing this second mountain, meeting amazing people, finding service opportunities, doing things for the first time, speaking God's truths through new venues, and as a result, experiencing beauty hard to put into words.
In this podcast, we share our favorite takeaways from this book through the lens of our personal Christian perspectives. Do buy the book! Here is the description online:
"Every so often, you meet people who radiate joy—who seem to know why they were put on this earth, who glow with a kind of inner light. Life, for these people, has often followed what we might think of as a two-mountain shape. They get out of school, they start a career, and they begin climbing the mountain they thought they were meant to climb. Their goals on this first mountain are the ones our culture endorses: to be a success, to make your mark, to experience personal happiness. But when they get to the top of that mountain, something happens. They look around and find the view . . . unsatisfying. They realize: This wasn’t my mountain after all. There’s another, bigger mountain out there that is actually my mountain.
