The Secret to Making Your Coworking Space More Than Just Desks
So, OF COURSE, you want your coworking space to be more than just desks and Wi-Fi.
One of the best parts of coworking is the collaboration – it's one of the core coworking values.
Over the past 15 years, I've been in countless coworking spaces, and the ones that stand out are the ones where people genuinely work together.
But here's the thing: members won't just collaborate because you put a sign up saying "collaboration encouraged."
There's got to be a genuine reason for them to join in – something that helps them move their projects forward.
People weigh whether joining in will make a difference to their week, even if it's subconscious.
They'll stay focused on their work if they don't see the benefit.
That's why creating those opportunities for people to connect, share what they're working on, and even team up on something is crucial.
It could be as simple as a community lunch or an event.
But it comes alive when you get people doing something together – not just chatting about it.
When we have to work on something together, we create friction, action and reality.
One of the best things we ever did was set up the Creator Write Club in a coworking space; it has people alone - together, and the better the group, the better the vibe.
It's about getting your hands in the clay and making collaboration real.
