Sure, it’s good to recognize and be thankful for the blessings we do have. Even in dark times. But therapeutic as it might feel can I just call a spade a spade? Can we just admit that we’re lying to ourselves if we think that makes it better? Like what does it come down to? Where does it end?

“I’m just thankful that I got this extra nice piece of cardboard to sleep under”.

Is that enough to give you joy? Does that really make up for the loss of everything you held dear? But there is another way! There is a secret to UNASSAILABLE joy!

A thanksgiving, a rejoicing, a happiness, that is not fragile. In fact… it’s untouchable and the answer isn’t to lower your standards, to find joy in smaller, lesser things, but to raise your standards. To set your hope and hang your joy on something that cannot be shaken. No matter what!
