  • Episode 050 - Talking Out Loud

For episode 50, I wanted to talk about something that has played a huge role in my own growth: introspection. Taking time to actually stop, look at what I’m doing, notice patterns, and think about why I keep reacting certain ways has helped me understand myself way more clearly. In this episode, I talk about how reflection can turn vague problems into specific patterns you can actually do something about, and also where the line is between useful introspection and just overthinking the same thing over and over again.

  • Episode 049 - Misalignment

If you have ever had the thought that you have pursued the "wrong" path or are scared of pursuing the "wrong" path, this episode is for you

I dive into why "wrong" is keeping you where you are, creating evidence from nothing and how the description of misalignment is much closer to the perspective shift that makes a difference.

If you are scared to pursue something because you don't want to make the wrong decision, this episode is for you.

  • Episode 048 - Confidence

Just be confident is useless advice, because it asks for the output as the input. You don't start with confidence — you've never done the thing, so there's nothing to be confident from.

This one's about what actually comes first, why affirmations in the mirror don't work, the difference between real confidence and performing it — and why performed confidence doesn't get caught in a moment, it collapses from having to be maintained.

I also get into where I'm still not confident, because I'm not standing at the finish line on this one.

  • Episode 046 - 9 Things That Actually Made Me Happier

9 things that actually moved the needle for me — not the generic list. A couple of these took me years to figure out, one of them I resisted for a long time and was completely wrong about, and one has nothing to do with discipline at all.

Some are small. Some are subtraction, things I stopped doing that helped more than anything I started. And the last one is probably the one people need to hear most.

  • Episode 045 - 20 Things I Wish I Learned Sooner

20 things I wish somebody had told me sooner. Some of these took a breakup to learn, some took a job, some took eight months alone figuring out who I actually was.

This isn't a list of quotes. Every one of these cost me something — and I get into what actually happened behind each one, not just the lesson at the end of it.

A few of them I'm still bad at.

  • Episode 044 - Nobody is Lazy

You've been meaning to do it for two years. In those same two years you've worked fourteen-hour days and stayed up until 3am on things that mattered less. So it isn't that you can't do hard things — you just can't do that one.

This episode is about why, and the answer isn't discipline.

Every real thing you want has a cheap substitute that pays out immediately. Potential pays you praise without the attempt. Overthinking pays the feeling of progress without the exposure. Imagining the life pays the pleasure of the image without the cost. You're not failing to chase the thing — you're already collecting a version of it.

Which means "try harder" is asking you to trade a guaranteed reward for an uncertain one. That's not a motivation problem. It's a bad deal, and you've been taking the better one.

Stop asking why you're not doing it. Ask what you're getting from not doing it.

  • Episode 043 - Was That Always in Me?

You can spend a year becoming someone you actually respect. Regulated, independent, fine on your own. And then one person becomes significant and suddenly you're checking your phone, reading into tone, wanting reassurance — and you don't recognize yourself.

So the question I got stuck on this week: do relationships create those parts of us, or do they just wake up something that was already sitting there untested?

This one goes into stakes, control, why independence and security aren't the same thing, and whether you can really call something healed if nothing's ever pressed on it. Same as last week — I don't land it clean. I argue with myself a few times and end somewhere honest instead of somewhere tidy.

  • Episode 042 - The Needle

Think of someone who really matters to you. Now think of someone you've spent just as much time around who doesn't. Same hours. Completely different weight. So what actually happened?

I spent a week trying to figure this out and I'm gonna be honest with you, I don't think I solved it. But I got somewhere. This episode is me walking through every wrong answer I tried, where it finally broke open, and the model I ended up with. Plus why you can't force someone to matter to you, and why you can't make them stop.

  • Episode 041 - The Voice That Talks You Out of Things

There's a voice in your head that talks you out of things. And it never once tells you you're scared, it tells you the timing's wrong, you're not ready, you'll start Monday. That's the trick.

This one's about that voice, why the excuse it gives you is always the exact opposite of what you're actually afraid of, and what it's really costing you every time you listen to it. Plus how to tell the difference between the discomfort that's building something and the discomfort that's just wearing you down.

If you've got something you know you should be doing and haven't, this one's for you.
