I was roommates with Chris while we were studying abroad in Rome, Italy. During our time there, I got to know him as a confident and energetic individual with a clear vision for his future. It was an incredible experience learning from him. In this episode, we discuss starting a business, politics, traveling, and much more.
I first met Malick when he arrived in the USA, as I was part of the welcome team for new international students. We later connected while playing soccer, where I discovered he’s a fantastic player. As we spent more time talking, I came to admire his deep passion and knowledge about languages, learning, and religion. I’ve learned so much from him, including during this episode. Together, we explore the Muridiyya movement, the history of Islam in West Africa, Jollof Rice, and much more.
I first got to know Junior through the classes we had together. He was always very positive and sharp, and I always felt he was very real. As I got to know him more, I found him to be a great person who is humble and has experienced a wide range of things and has learned a lot. In this episode, we talk about his journey into producing music, his relationship with his brother, geopolitics, and much more.
Tamara Dávila joined our class, a few weeks ago, to speak about her activism and the current situation in Nicaragua, and I was immediately struck by her strength, positivity, and impactful work. She proudly identifies as a feminist and activist, titles that truly reflect who she is. I had the privilege of hosting her on my podcast, where we discussed the history and present state of Nicaragua, explored cultural differences (Latin America and USA), shared thoughts on books, and covered a variety of other topics.
Ashhad is a fellow international student who I met during my first days at college. Over time, we've shared great experiences, and I've learned a lot from him. I've also seen him grow in remarkable ways—he's kind, strong, and has a great sense of humor. In this conversation, we explore a variety of topics, from the history of South Asia to Psychedelic mushrooms and God.
Message from Dr. Erdi:
Sean, to me, is someone who stands out in the best of ways. Not in the 'popular' way but in his own way. I had a great time talking with someone so wise and who appreciates the finer things in life: radio, theater, and Taco Bell.
