According to the Internet Crime Complaint Center’s (IC3) 2021 Elder Fraud Report, over 92,000 victims over the age of 60 reported losses of $1.7 billion, a 74% increase in losses from 2020! There are many red flags that might alert you that an interaction could be fraudulent, including being pressured to send money, threats of law enforcement action and impatience, asking for gift cards, or providing codes as a form of payment- the list goes on!
