Respite is a special term for a short-term break for caregivers. Respite care can be utilized for a couple of mornings or for several days or weeks to provide relief to caregivers, to help someone heal after an injury or illness or after a hospital or rehab stay.  There are a couple types of Respite care available, respite care can take place in the home, at Adult Day centers, or at residential or nursing community. Respite care can take many forms, but the general goal revolves around two basic ideas: sharing the responsibility for caregiving and getting support for yourself while knowing your loved one is being care for!
