Coming from me, that top phrase might make you curious, but not enough to figure out what it means. But, if you knew that phrase was from God and that it contained the secret to life, then would you do whatever it takes to find out its meaning?

That is kind of what Jesus did by speaking in veiled side-stories, called parables. The first one is the key to understanding the rest. It has to do with the condition of our hearts. Are we really open to listening to God? Do His words alter our lives?
