This presentation traces the Hermetic wisdom stream from ancient Egypt through Alexandria to the spiritual crisis of the 3rd century A.D., when experiential gnosis clashed with rising imperial Christianity. Drawing on Alvin Boyd Kuhn, Augustine of Hippo, and the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus, it explores how early Alexandrian spirituality—rooted in direct inner awakening—was reshaped under Constantine the Great into institutional religion. Concluding with a powerful reading from the Corpus Hermeticum, Roger contrasts allegorical belief with lived spiritual realization, revealing the enduring struggle between authoritarian forms and the soul’s freedom to know its divine identity.
