  • Episode #10: From Philly’s Wild Streets to LIVIN’ IT with Michael Perzel and Rick Mowat

What happens when a self-described bad kid from Philadelphia grows up, turns his life around, and decides to tell the world about it?

This week on She Wrote, He Wrote, Ashley Wren Collins and Jordan Rockwell welcome author Michael Perzel and his coauthor, screenwriter Rick Mowat, for a lively conversation about Michael’s memoir, LIVIN’ IT: The True Story of a Bad Kid from Philly Who Defies the Odds.

From growing up in Philadelphia during the wild 1960s and ‘70s to brushes with the law, building a successful career, and eventually becoming an author, Michael’s journey is anything but ordinary.

We talk about second chances, reinvention, the sometimes unreliable nature of memory, and what happens when two writers collaborate to bring one man’s extraordinary life to the page. Plus, we explore the challenges of turning real-life experiences into stories—and what might happen when those stories make their way to Hollywood!

It’s a conversation about the past, the people who shape us, and why it’s never too late to write a new chapter.

  • Episode #9: Dealing with "Haters" as an Artist

What happens when you put your work — and a little piece of yourself — out into the world…and somebody hates it?

This week, we’re talking bad reviews, criticism, creative failures, the reviews we’ve received that we actually agree with, and the occasional movie that’s so bad it somehow becomes wonderful. (Yes, Cats comes up. 😹)

Because being an artist doesn’t just require a thick skin. Sometimes you need a thick soul. Your art is a piece of you that you’ve put out into the world — and not everyone is going to understand it, connect with it, or like it.

The good reviews. The bad reviews. The haters. The lessons. And why you keep creating anyway.

  • Episode #8: I Am Enough: My Experience at the Hoffman Process

This week on the She Wrote, He Wrote Podcast, Jordan is doing something a little different. He’s going solo.

Last year, Jordan spent a week at the Hoffman Process—an experience designed to help people recognize the patterns they’ve carried with them, understand where they came from, and begin choosing something different.

In this deeply personal episode, Jordan talks about what brought him there, the extraordinary experience it was with so many wonderful souls, and most of all, Jordan finally found his way to say the most important thing he needed to say:

    I am enough.

Jordan can’t tell you everything that happens at Hoffman—and he wouldn’t want to.

Some experiences need to belong to the people who choose to go through them. But he can share what the experience meant to him, what he took away from it, and how he’s trying to put those lessons into practice.

    You are enough too.

  • Episode #7: Healing From Narcissistic Abuse with "Dimming the Gaslight" host Mac

Jordan Rockwell and Ashley Wren Collins are joined by Mac, host of the podcast Dimming the Gaslight, for a candid conversation about relationships, emotional abuse, survival, and what happens when you finally find your way out of a toxic relationship.

Mac shares his own deeply personal story—the relationship that changed his life, what it took to recognize what was happening, and the long road toward rebuilding himself afterward. But his story didn’t end there. He turned what he learned into Dimming the Gaslight, creating a community where others can share their experiences, recognize unhealthy relationship patterns, and realize they aren’t alone.

Together, Jordan, Ashley, and Mac talk about gaslighting and narcissistic behavior, the warning signs we sometimes miss when we’re inside a relationship, and why leaving can be only the beginning of the journey. They also explore dating and relationships after an experience like Mac’s—and what it takes to trust yourself, and someone else, again.

She Wrote, He Wrote may be a romantic comedy, but love and relationships aren’t always sunshine and roses. Sometimes the most important relationship stories are about recognizing when something isn’t love at all—and finding the strength to walk away.
