It was no accident that God chose shepherds to lead his people. Abraham, Moses and David were shepherds. How could such a lowly profession have anything to do with the nature or character of the Creator of the universe? The answer is that a shepherd lives to seek and to save lost sheep. God will do the same. He sent Jesus, The Good Shepherd.

Jesus wants to share his heart with us. We who belong to him will find our hearts beating with the same rhythm and pulse that cares for the lost. The 99 may be safe, but we will begin to care for that one who is lost. We will find ourselves stretching more and more to reach out to bring in that one who may be lost. Then we will rejoice along with Jesus over one sinner who repents.
