It's our first episode from our Better Than Gold series! Better Than Gold is The Shop's series over the next year through the entire Bible. Over the next year, our podcast are going to come from what we are reading. Join us if ya want to! Today we're chatting about the story of Cain and Abel and what it looks like to just go through the motions.

On Thursday nights, we've been studying through the Book of Daniel and we have come across several examples of bad kings. So, on this episode, we figured we would talk about what a good king looks like.

Daniel 4 gives us a testimony from Nebuchadnezzar. This is the story of what God did for him to bring him to a place of humility.

It's easy to say that God is great, but it's a little more difficult to say that God is greater because it requires us to determine what God is greater than. In chapter 3 of Daniel, Daniel's friends understand that God isn't just great, he's greater than their circumstances and specifically the furnace.

Where do you turn when you get anxious?

In the 2nd chapter of Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar has a dream that causes anxiety and leaves him without sleep. He then turns to a group of people without the wisdom to answer his questions or the power to fix his problem.

We're kicking off a new series through the Book of Daniel titled God Over All. In chapter one, Daniel and his friends are brought to Babylon, where the Babylonians intend to reeducate them. Daniel and his friends set some boundaries in their lives and determine that there are some things that they are unwilling to do.

In this sermon, we discuss living in an influential culture and the boundaries we need to set up. We then conclude by looking at God's hand at work behind the scenes the whole time.
