The Seven Words for Praise
Yâdâh-to reverence or worship with extended hands
Halal – To praise with vigorous foolishness
Zamar – To praise with music or song
Tôwdâh-an expression of thanks, praise, confession
Bârak-to bless God
Tehillâh-to extol highly
Shâbach-to address in a loud tone
Tehilliah (Teh-Hil-Law)
To extol highly with song
Shabach (Sha- Bawk)
To address in a loud tone or to shout praise
Why is Singing Important?
Singing raises the level of our praise
Singing reveals the depth of our praise
Singing remembers the focus of our praise
Singing brings rejoicing to our praise
How does shouting fit into praise?
Shouting displays our excitement
Shouting delights the heart of God
Shouting declares the intent of our praise
Shouting demonstrates the life in our praise
Shout with joy to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of his name; make his praise (Tehillah) glorious! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.

What happens when we sing?
We sing to lift up praise
We sing to live out our praise
We sing to show our love for God
We sing to lighten our burdens
We sing to lend our voices to heaven
What happens when we shout?
Our shouts show God’s glory
Our shouts show God’s goodness
Our shouts show God’s greatness
Our shouts show God’s grace
Why do we offer praise?
Praise is a celebration of what God is doing
Praise is a statement of what God has done
Praise is an expectation of what God is going to do
Praise through Communion
Christ gave Himself in service
