Being an independent artist means that you have to wear many hats! You create your art and you also have to run and maintain a business, because that is what it is, a business! If you plan to market yourself and create any kind of product for purchase, then you are running a business.

Creative people love to do just that! create! Do you as an artist want to spend time on your art or time managing a business, crunching numbers, creating plans, forming budgets AND learning how to market? Most don't, but it is necessary for success.

If only as an independent artist you could afford to pay a team to do all of this for you while you focus on creating. For most, this isn't reality so you need to learn the business.
