A poem to help you ponder John 9:1-41
“The Sight Light Brings”
written by Dwayne Sheridan
———
“I was, thrown out of the synagogue today
Because I, was born blind but now I see
In my Healer, I now believe
Despite the questions, of Sightless Pharisees
Was it for wrongs my folks had done?
Or for the sins of this here son?
That it would take this long for me
To use my eyes, why was this to be?
Sometimes the ones who know the most
See right through truth, like a ghost
Others, blind, receive their sight
To behold the works of Christ
This is an amazing thing!
behold!
The sight Light brings.
A second time they called me in
To testify of what happened
They asked my parents “Was it true?”
“He’s of age, why don’t you have, him tell you.”
Well, Pharisees, I am amazed
That you don’t know from whence he came
You’ve seen his works, it must be true
Do you wish to be, his disciples too?
Sometimes the ones who know the most
See right through truth, like a ghost
Others, blind, receive their sight
To behold the works of Christ
This is an amazing thing!
behold!
The sight Light brings.
He put mud upon my eyes
Of spit and dirt made on the ground
I washed it off,
my sight was found
People marveled, is it he?
Though born blind, I could now see
A beggar changed,
why was it me?
His followers, they wondered, too.
What brought this man this misfortune?
Family sin or his own vice?
What caused this man, to pay such a great price?
So the, works of God might be displayed
The reason that the Healer gave
Former blind worships in faith
The Phari-see, their guilt remains
Why, this IS an amazing thing!
Sometimes the ones who know the most
See right through truth, like a ghost
Others, blind, receive their sight
To behold the works of Christ
This is an amazing thing!
behold!
The sight Light brings.”
