In the final analysis, the commandments of God boil down to three relationships: Love towards God; love towards our neighbours; love towards the church. So to manifest a loving approach in life is one of the clear signs of a sincere Christian. But to demonstrate honest love can be a daunting task sometimes, particularly it seems for our menfolk. Perhaps that's why John specifically encourages fathers and young men to let their love shine.
