One of the best jobs I ever had as a young man was working the weekend shift as a disc jockey on an oldies station, playing the music of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. They just don’t make music like that anymore.

Now, I used to take requests for certain songs and distinctly remember that one of the most popular was The Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. It still remains as one of the most well-known and best-loved songs of that music genre and time period.

Now, silence can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who you ask. But when it seems like God is silent, distant, and far away, it can be disconcerting and unnerving to anyone.

So what do we do in times like these and how do we deal with that Heavenly quiet when it comes?
